How to convert a simple text in InDesign to the so-called "curves/outlines", so that this text is font-independent and can be printed without any problems.

I had to make a little change in an EPS file as the printing company I'm using couldn't read the cyrillic text in the EPS file. "It showed unknown symbols". I though "Yeah! They may have the font missing!". The font was Verdana. I'm sure thay are using a PC, not a Mac, not a Linux. However, I'm not so familiar with all those prining techniques. They told me I had to convert my text to "curves". OK, I thougth that would we pretty easy using InDesign. I searched using Google on how to do that exactly. I was very, very angry as I was unable to find this simple thing. Google found millions of other results but not this one htat would have helped me. Finally and luckily, I managed to find how to do this on myself and I will now explain you this simple thing.

Converting the text to outlines

To simply do this select the text box you'd like to convert (in case you'd like to convert all the text boxes, simply click Ctrl+A). Then select Type -> Outlines from the above main menu.

That's it! And now you won't have any problems with your printing company!

PS: I know that is a very simple and probably useless article. A lot of people will say that it is quite simple to perform this, but I was very angry that I could find this simple thing in the Internet. Now .. it is available on mt-soft.org
